Due to life & other projects (TinyNephesh & Counseling/Coaching), this site is needing some love. So, here’s an update:
I married a missionary.
The adventure started last April (possibly under the influence of muscle relaxers…). I opened myself up to a set up by my little seester & one of her best friends. Honestly? Best decision I have ever made.
That one conversation led to quite the adventure: a Spring Fling that led to a Summer Romance that led to a Fall Engagement and finally a Winter Wedding.
And, three and a half weeks ago, I married a missionary.
I have felt for much of my life that God has not only called me personally to ministry, but that I’d also end up married to someone involved in ministry. Honestly, though, I expected he would be in lay ministry or have a position at a church…
But, I married a missionary.
Someone who fully believes in and follows the Great Commission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
This amazing man has sacrificed a lot for his ministry, and he serves each day in one of the richest mission fields out there: secular university campuses. As a Chi Alpha missionary, he does outreach, he disciples growing Christians, and he leads by example.
And, I couldn’t be prouder.
I love seeing and hearing about how God is moving on these college campuses. Now, I am on this journey with him. I don’t exactly know all of my place in it, but now, I’m along for the ride.
For me, though, it is absolutely one of the biggest steps of faith I have ever taken. You see, as a missionary, his income is reliant on the support of others. Like any missionary, he raises a budget, with the faith that it will be enough to support his ministry need/operation and himself (and now his family). Trusting our livelihood to the support of others and me building my businesses/therapy practice, it’s a new area of faith for me.
God, though, is always faithful. Always.
He has called us to live out the Great Commission in these ways, so here we go – forth to spread the gospel around our world.
I married a missionary – and I am so glad to be doing this life with him.
