Not Meant to be Alone

Darkness comes in…did it ever end? I mean, I know it did…but here’s the thing, it comes back.

Does this sound familiar to you?
Whether for you or someone you know?

If you’ve ever battled depression, anxiety, addiction, or any number of other mental health struggles, this probably rings a bell…

And, you grow concerned that it will return. Then, never leave.

A song I heard recently reminded me of this.
The lyrics, the sound, the harmony & melody…And the message was clear:

WE ARE NOT MEANT TO DO THIS ALL ALONE…

You see, it all started in the garden; Adam was alone with God… Don’t miss that: God created us for one another.

“And the lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit to him.”” Genesis 1:18

Now, don’t get me wrong: God is the provider of our needs (Philippians 4:19) and the author & perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Of this I am absolutely sure.

But, one of the needs He created in us was to not only need Him, but to need the support of others. It’s how we were created.

These are battles we cannot fight on our own.

So, for any of you feeling like you or your loved one are fighting on your own, you aren’t.  You don’t have to.  Reach out, and find your safety net.

And, if you find music helpful, maybe the song that spoke to me this week will speak to you tonight:

Lecrae & Tori Kelley I’ll Find You

I have been there, more than once, feeling like I’ve had to fight alone. It’s where a lot of the early posts of mine came about – not a concern about growing a following, but a way to share a bit of my pain. Now, the goal is that others would benefit from my journey.

We are not meant to be alone in our struggle.
We have a God who cares, enough that He made Himself man to redeem us to Himself (Philippians 2:5-8 [and the rest of Scripture]).
And, we have one another.

If you find yourself needing prayer, I am here.
I just feel like someone needs to hear that tonight.
And, I’m already praying for you.
