Living the Dream

It has been so long, I feel, since I have written. It has been about a month…and I feel a little like I have fallen off the face of the planet. I have spent the month buried in books, finishing paper, wrapping up paperwork, terminating with clients, training at my new job, and teaching kids art…

BUT: I’m back! Head above water – I have officially graduated with my MA in Counseling Psych and survived.

In light of all that has transpired, last week’s Five Minute Friday & today’s Tuesday @ 10 theme are so appropriate. The FMF topic is DREAM. And, that’s where I’m at, but, I’ll get to that (as well as T@T’s Joy).

First, I wanted to share with you all some words that really spoke to me this weekend and I think will touch others, as well:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant?”
Actually, who are you
 not to be?
You are a Child of God.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”
 – Marianne Williamson

I hope that these words speak to others, as they did me. And, now, for Five Minute Friday on Tuesday:

READY? GO:

Dream.

What an appropriate topic for having just graduated with my Masters’ degree.

Honestly, with few (minor) exceptions, I am living my dreams – the dreams young me has always carried in her heart.

I am surrounded by love – and in beautiful California, no less!

I attend a lovely church full of supportive believers that truly hunger for the heart of God. At this church, I am blessed to be part of the youth ministry team; watching young people be exposed to the wonder of God.

I have been blessed to receive education in my field – which has led to an entry career type job in my favorite city! (And, so close to the beach, where God always tugs my heart).

I’ve got a novel published, this blog, and some other collections on Kindle. I have two-three others in the works.

So, my living situation isn’t ideal. And, as usual, I’m still chronically single (story of my life…).

And, that’s ok.

These are now part of the new dreams that God is stirring in my heart:

  • To write more/more often
  • To build a beautiful ministry life
  • To marry and start a family
  • To find home

So far – God has been gracious and allowed me to live all of my dreams – even if at first I don’t recognize them. I have no doubt, as He continues to stir up these new dreams, He will always do the same for me.

And – I look forward to finding joy every crazy minute!
